Supplements...Can live with 'em, and can definitely live without 'em. ⠀
There's a lot of debate over what supplements are right for fat loss or muscle growth. Which ones are good pre-workout post-workout or during a workout.⠀
Really, supplements are going to make up such a small portion of your results if you do everything else right. ⠀
When your diet and training are on point and consistent, supplements can be that extra 5% that push you over the edge. But without the diet and training, supplements can't really work to help you at all. ⠀
Diet + Training + Supplements = 100%⠀
Supplements alone = 0%⠀
Not 5, not 10, 0%. They do nothing without all the rest.⠀
Nothing happens without locking in all the other boring fundamentals that get glanced over in a lot of fitness posts. This one included. ⠀
So before you start thinking about what supplement you need to optimize muscle growth, ask yourself if you're getting enough calories everyday. Or enough protein. ⠀
Ask yourself how many hours of sleep you're getting every night, and whether most of your calories are coming from not-so-nutritious foods.⠀
That's where the focus should because that can make up 80% of your results, where supplements can only add maybe that extra 5%.⠀
In this picture, I was in one of the stages of my #activeaddiction. During my #active addiction and a terrible body image and relationship with #food, the lowest #weight I've ever been was 88lbs standing at 5'5.. I have gained weight, lost weight, but always maintained my addiction. I'm now 120lbs and when I first got to #rehab I was 100lbs. Which was a higher weight than I 'normally' was, I barely notice the weight I have gained because it is all #healthy weight. I have a lot more #energy, and I feel a lot more #clearminded. Today, because of a little slip I had, I am 7 days #clean off #drugs. I #graduated from a rehab in early December.
I'm not going to be keeping #track of the #scale, because I know I will end up obsessing over the numbers on it like I once did, but more so take notice of how I #feel, my self talk, and also I'll be comparing #beforeandafter#photos. I'm hoping this account will help me stay #focused, #driven, #motivated to continue onto my #journey of #healing and become #fit, and an #inspiration to others.
Absolutely HATE cardio with a pure passion. However, still had to get it done! I’m excited to finish these last 20 days with my FIRST challenge group! I’ve been coaching for awhile, yet never did a challenge group ! I’m beyond dedicated to them- regardless of how tired , or lack of time... or any other excuse I can come up with! 1/21 days done! @autumncalabrese
It helps to have a workout mat that roots you on as well! 😍❤️

Nobody wants to battle the dreaded bulge, but starving yourself, over exercising, or taking over the counter supplements is not a healthy (or sustainable) way to keep your weight at bay. .
Fortunately, there are some natural fat burners that when taken appropriately, can help aid in your weight loss goals. What are they, you ask? 💪🏽caffeine: Caffeine can help boost your metabolism and help your body burn more fat. Research shows that caffeine can temporarily boost your metabolism by up to 16% over one to two hours. In addition, several studies have shown that caffeine can help your body burn more fat as fuel. However, this effect appears to be stronger in lean people than obese people. Try coffee as opposed to a caffeine supplement. 💪🏽green tea extract/green tea: Green tea extract is also rich in caffeine and the polyphenol epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), both of which are compounds that can help you burn fat. In addition, these two compounds complement each other and can help you burn fat through a process called thermogenesis. In simple terms, thermogenesis is a process in which your body burns calories to produce heat. 💪🏽protein: Protein is incredibly important for burning fat. A high protein intake can help you burn fat by boosting your metabolism and curbing your appetite. It also helps your body preserve muscle mass. 💪🏽soluble fiber: Soluble fiber absorbs water in your digestive tract and forms a viscous gel-like substance. Interestingly, studies have shown that soluble fiber can help you burn fat by curbing your appetite. That’s because soluble fiber can help increase the levels of fullness hormones like PYY and GLP-1. It can also help reduce levels of the hunger hormone ghrelin. 💪🏽yohimbine: Yohimbine is a substance found in the bark of Pausinystalia yohimbe, a tree found in Central and Western Africa. It’s commonly used as an aphrodisiac, but it also has properties that may help you burn fat. Yohimbine works by blocking receptors called alpha-2 adrenergic receptors. These receptors normally bind adrenaline to suppress its effects, one of which is encouraging the body to burn fat for fuel.

I’ll be honest with you guys.
The month of January has been a struggle for me as far as getting back into a healthy groove and finding out what my body needs in order to continue to lose weight. 😐I know what to eat, I know how much to eat, right? It’s not as simple.
When I started my journey, I meal prepped and ate healthy and I dropped the weight FAST. I did not count calories, but I can only imagine having a calorie deficit, right? 5-6 months later, I started counting calories with myfitnesspal (never really weighing things) just an estimate really. I was successful and continued to lose the weight.
Late Nov-Dec, I stopped losing weight and I thought it was giving in to this or that but I still worked out 5-6 times a week?? I realize that my body is smaller. It’ll be way harder to lose the weight, but it’s frustrating. I don’t do an hour of cardio anymore, but I’m still burning 800-900 calories per session according to my Apple Watch. I haven’t meal prepped since May of last year, but I’m doing that for a couple weeks. Not really weighing myself. I upped my calories, but I’m just focusing on eating correctly.
This comparison is more for me than for you guys. While I struggle with the number, I see the difference in those two pictures. My legs look way better and I look smaller all around.
So while I HATE TO ADMIT that I struggle with loving the journey sometimes. I’m still changing, my body is shaping how I want it to. Slowly but surely. Thank to the weights and cable work.
Plus, I’ve still got 7+ months to look the hottest for my 21st 👸🏽

She took ballet last year and has asked me everyday when she can take it again. TODAY IS BALLET DAY!!!!! 🎉🎀🎊 When we parked she said, “I cry every time I go in class...BUT NOT TODAY!” So happy to see her get to do something she loves.

One year progress photo: left at 88kg, right at 78kg, just from eating smaller portions. Hit a dry spot for the last couple months with losing more weight, but I’m happy I’ve managed to keep the 10kgs off since September, a feat in itself that I’m extremely proud of ☺️

I use to never take mirror selfies like this because I was ashamed of what I look like. Me being almost 500 pounds, I look like a sloppy, lazy, no self control or self respect kind of person. You can be the sweetest person with the hugest heart but being at this weight just shows you don’t care enough about yourself. I took these pictures today while I was at the mall because I told myself that I never want to look like this again. Yeah, I’m speaking of appearance at the moment but the thing is, the smaller I get, the healthier I’m going to become. Why would I want to live any other way than trying to improve myself for the better? 💞
