Trying to run like… 😫🏃♀️ (tag a friend who hates cardio)
Cardio gets a bad rap. Maybe because it’s not as “in” as weightlifting. Maybe because it’s abused while dieting. Maybe because it’s just misunderstood. I don’t know.
What I do know though is that it can be just as challenging and exciting as weightlifting - you just have to learn how to do it right. Here’s a few things I’ve found helpful:
1️⃣-Warm up - if you ALWAYS feel out of breath while running, try spending an extra 10-15 minutes warming up before you start. Get your breathing in check, blow your nose, drink some water - clear them airways.
2️⃣-Keep your mind active - listen to songs you know the lyrics to, put on a podcast, if you’re living that luxe wifi life - Netflix it up.
3️⃣-Practice proper form - just like with weights - more efficient form will reduce potential for injury AND make the movement easier. Right now, I’m focusing on increasing my cadence (steps / min) and improving my upper body awareness (hello awkward arms).
My definition of fitness extends beyond just weights. It includes running, flipping, climbing, and doing as much as this capable body will allow me. 👇👇Comment if you’d like to see more running progress!

Earlier I left you with this thought... don’t sweat the little things. Don’t even sweat the bad things. Remain positive and it will all turn out the way it should.
It’s only Tuesday but this week has tested me and stressed me. I’m sure you can relate. Maybe not at this exact moment, but you’ve been there right? Well I’m here to tell you that if you are having a rough time or just feeling out of sorts, IT’S OKAY!
A lot of people sweat the small things at times, and I’m one of those people (not always, but sometimes)😅 if something isn’t going your way or according to plan, just breathe. It will be okay. If you’ve had a bad day and feel there is no going up from here, I promise you there is.
We waste too much time stressing over small things that really don’t matter or that we can’t change. What’s the point? It might have been a bad day, but that doesn’t make it a bad life.
I truly believe there are certain situations that need to just be left alone. To be unstressed over and to have no time wasted over worrying about.
Instead, if you find yourself starting to stress over something small that you can not change and isn’t worth your time stressing over, try my 5 tips:
1. Go to the gym
2. Drink some wine
3. Take a bath
4. Read a book
5. Have a dance party
Any & all of these tips can help a stressful situation, imo😘 #happydestressing

Started another busy semester but that doesn’t mean the gym gets pushed aside. Made a lot of changes in the last couple of weeks from a competing date, diet and getting my ass together for this load of a semester. Ready to push myself harder in the gym but even more with making sure I am learning how to be the best teacher I can be. 🤓📚📓 these 4th graders are making me more and more excited to finally get my own classroom! 😍

✖️Arnold Presses (don’t lock out at the top, the emphasis should be on the shoulders)

Back to the gym grind after my getaway to Colorado. Not gonna lie, i guess my legs are still hurting from snowboarding because weights felt heavy last night, but still pulled through my death by cardio reps!

Happy hump day and good morning ☺️💪🏽
Super super happy with the second back and biceps session I had this morning! I never really plan my workouts, I literally just try to do different exercises or difference supersets so I’m always moving. I also try and change the weight and sometimes I throw a drop set in there 🤷🏽♀️ but I find that this is working for me at the moment and I’m seeing the results I guess haha.
So today I thought....don’t ask me why...but I was like “oh yeah! I know I’ll finish off with some deadlifts” 🙄☹️ I don’t know why I did that but I’m glad I did. Just tested my strength and the weight and kept going up in weight and decreased the reps. Ended up doing;
• 60kg x10
• 70kg x8
• 80kg x4
• 90kg x2 - only now I put my belt on ☺️
I’m pleased with this because I never deadlift and I was worried my strength is gone but it’s still there! If I practice maybe I’ll hit that 100kg 😏💪🏽 also these deadlifts are the day after leg day and I was already dead from the rest of my workout 😂😅 so 🤷🏽♀️💁🏽♀️

Not gonna lie, off track with the heart and mind. We're all human beings facing our own battles. Some days we lose, some days we win. Some days the demons get the better of us, and you just need to roll into a ball and cry. I say and I preach DO IT. I think of myself as a battery recharging. You choose to potato🥔 for a bit to become a BETTER POTATO🍠. Been off track with food, and the gym but hey, I'm treasuring this precious week left in Singapore with my family, and home cooked food. Going to fly off next Monday to Copenhagen! Ready to peruse my options for a European meal prep, and get on that gains road😁🤘🏻🤘🏻 Finally, really proud I got up for fasted cardio today! I woke up at 3am this morning with a stomach bug and have only managed to eat a slice of toast today so far😢 I’ve been watching The O.C and cuddling my cats and writing this blog post so at least it hasn’t been a complete write off🙃 There’s no way I can exercise today though and I’m really hoping I’m ok for work tomorrow🙏🏼 Posting this selfie as the cover for these photos to remind myself that even though I’ve had a crap day at least I have a good tan😂 Happy Sunday💘

Yesterdays split consisted of back and shoulders and I’m not gonna lie, my motivation was pretty low for my workout😩 But let’s face it, lack of motivation is bound to happen to all of us from time to time (not only with just fitness). We have the power to choose if we want our emotions to take over us. Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggles✨🙌🏻
